My Little Monday: A Friend in Deed

I love Pinkie Pie with all my heart, I really do.  She is fun, random, energetic, and puts the happiness of others before her own.  That is not to say she is perfect.  In the episode A Friend in Deed we get the chance to see Pinkie Pie at her worst, and I don't mean cupcakes.  Unfortunately, Pinkie Pie is the kind of pony who needs every pony to like her.  Remember her reaction to Twilight Sparkles moving to Ponyville? The truth of the world is that not everyone is friends with everyone.  Equestria is no different.  Poor Pinkie Pie has to learn this the hard way.

Personally, I would have let Grumpy's indifference slide, but not Pinkie Pie.  She becomes so obsessed with gaining his friendship that she drives him to hate her.  In the end, as always, they make up.  But up until that point is a very important lesson, and one that I think Pinkie needed to learn much earlier in life.  It goes far beyond the fact that not everyone in life will be your friend.  I think the true lesson is that you cannot force yourself onto others.  It comes across as desperate, for one.  Also, your self worth should not be based upon those who do not like you, but those who do.  Granted, if you have no friends then you probably do need to do some re-evaluating, but my point still stands.  She has an entire town who loves her. Why should one donkey, who is obviously just an unhappy person, make her question herself?

Fill in the Blank Friday

It is that time again.  Thank to the little things we do.

1.  The love of my life is   my husband, Mike Awesome .

2.   Falling in love is    something I didn't fully grasp until I actually experienced it .

3.  Marriage is    a lot easier than I expected .

4. The longest relationship I've ever had was  is with my husband.  We may have been married for less than two years, but we had been dating for years before we finally tied the knot .

5. The key to a good relationship is   friendship.  My husband is my best friend, and I don't mean in some cliche way.  There was a point before we started dating where he was my closest friend .

6. I feel loved when    a friend smiles at me .

7.  My favorite quote about love is   "Love is all you need" .

BioWare is the Best Valentine

I had to privilege of getting my hands on a copy of the Mass Effect 3 demo a few days early.  Unfortunately, my work schedule did not give me any free time to actually play it until yesterday.  In case you are somehow unaware, the demo went live for everyone yesterday.  I highly suggest you download it and give it a try, even if you never played the first two.  To all the Kinect users out there, I think the demo is Kinect compatible.  I am going to check tomorrow to be sure.

Being that I am not very good at shooters, I was very pleased to learn about the new game play BioWare has implemented with Mass Effect 3.  There is a combat mode for people who love 3rd person shooters, a story mode for people (like me) who suck at combat, and an RPG mode for players who love the game just the way it is.  All three options are available on the demo, so you have a chance to figure out which mode you like best.  When you play through the story demo you get the epic beginning of the game, which is followed by a level later in the game to get a feel for what combat will be like.

The Multiplayer looks pretty amazing by the trailer, but I haven't tried that portion of the demo.  Obviously it isn't my cup of tea.  I will warn those who are interested in Special Forces that you need an Origin account.  If you don't already have one, then this is a good opportunity to go ahead and make one.

After you try out the demo, I would love for you to come back and share your thoughts.  How do you think it will compare to the last two games?  Who is better, male of female Shepard?

My Little Monday: Hearts and Hooves Day

The latest episode of My Little Pony was leaked early by iTunes.  I am proud to say that I waited until Saturday to watch it.  Nothing against those who watched it early, but I didn't want to wait even longer for the next new episode with nothing to tide me over.  But enough of that.  I feel bad for some fans, because I know not everyone likes the Cutie Mark Crusaders.  Personally, I think they are a nice distraction from the core group; and I can't wait till they get their cutie marks.  In Hearts and Hooves day, the trio took center stage as they tried to find their teacher, Miss Cheerilee, a very special some-pony of her own.  I know the lesson is not to meddle in the affairs of others, but they were just so cute in their endeavor!

You would think finding a proper stallion for Cheerilee would be easy.  The Cutie Mark Crusaders not only proved the contrary, they also brought to light just how strange some of the residents of Ponyville are.  They used to fear Zecora, but a creepy stallion covered in jam is no big deal.  Really?  Look at his face as he bathes in the jelly.  I think he is enjoying himself a bit too much, if you know what I mean.  Twice as inappropriate because he is in from of children.  I do get the feeling the animators must have had a lot of fun making the ponies for the big musical number, though.  Not only is there the jelly weirdo, but Sweetie Belle interrupts a funeral to insult an elderly pony.

In the end, the fillies decided Big Macintosh is the perfect stallion for Cheerilee.  At this point, I started to feel really bad for Miss Cheerilee.  Her students went to great lengths because they feel she has to have a special some-pony for Hearts and Hooves Day.  While sweet, it is a bit insulting that they could not accept she was happy single.  Then they put her in an incredible uncomfortable situation with Big Macintosh and the picnic.  To top it off, you get the feeling Cheerilee is slightly interested in Big Mac, and he just really isn't interested.  I could totally see poor Miss Cheerilee thinking to herself, "Great.  A cute stallion now thinks I am totally desperate and lonely because my students have to find me a date for Hearts and Hooves Day.  It isn't like I can't try to avoid him after this, since he is Apple Bloom's older brother. Just great."

When things don't work out as planned, the girls resort to a love potion.  Only the potion turns out to be more of a poison.  The love poison makes you so into the other pony that you cease to function in your day to day life.  This is when the Cutie Mark Crusaders figure out that what they did was wrong.  The remainder of the episode is the girls trying desperately to break the spell.  Naturally, they succeed by the skin of their teeth.  The end result is my favorite part.

While Cheerilee and Big Mac don't end up together in the end, I found the episode to be well worth it.  I enjoyed getting to see Macintosh flushed out a little more.  Between you and me, I hope that if he does pair off with anyone that it ends up to be Fluttershy or Twilight Sparkles.  Cheerilee, on the other hoof, needs some-pony who is more outgoing and not related to one of her students.  My only letdown with this episode is that we never got to see what Spike had for Rarity.

So, readers, I have just two questions and I would love for you to answer them in the comments.  Who do you think would be a good match for Big Macintosh?  And the lesser important, do you think Spike actually worked up the courage to give Rarity a gift?

Fill in the Blank Friday

Via the little things we do

1.  I started my blog because    I was a bored housewife at the time.  No really.  Newly married and moved cross country, I was bored a lot.  Plus, I wanted to improve my writing.  If you read this blog with any sort of regularity, then you know I sometimes struggle not to ramble..

2.   One thing I love seeing on other blogs    are colorful picture.  I am so into colorful picture, and tattoos.  If you have a good tattoo blog, then I would love to read it.

3.  Something I love about blogging    being able to ramble off my opinions like they matter.

4. A favorite blog post of mine is probably   when I discuss the genetics of My Little Pony or.  I have a story about hobos I have been meaning to write up.

5. Something my friends in real life know about me that I've never before mentioned on my blog is    something I will probably never talk about on here. ~.^.

6.  My new favorite blogs to read are   (in alphabetical order): Four-Eyes Rella, Gaijin Housewife in Japan, Gaming at the End of Time (which I helped make the banners and buttons for), Hawaii Kawaii, Proud Daydreamer, and Spectrum of Madness .

7.  Some things I tend to avoid doing on my blog are   wasteful nonsense posting.  But it does happen sometimes.

My New Nintendo Swag

Recently I was able to acquire a new case for my Nintendo DS Lite.  I would have preferred a pink one, but I do love me some blue.  What makes a system case like this nice is that I can keep it on when I play.  Bonus: you can't see it, but it also holds 3 games.  Isn't it just the cutest?

Mortal Kombat Kollector

Good things come to those who wait.  The Mortal Kombat Kollector's Edition finally dropped down in price.  I know I should have gotten it for the PS3, and part of me still regrets not, but I had already played through most of the story mode on 360.  Yes, I know I can never get Kratos.  You know what?  Who cares.  I have never actually played any of the God of War games, so I'm not missing out.  What I did get was a Scorpion costume for my 360 Avatar as well as a NetherRealm Studios t-shirt, which is also for my Avatar.  Ermac's classic costume was also one of the collector's edition bonuses.  All I really wanted was the Scorpion+Sub-Zero book ends, so really everything is a bonus.

I popped the game in earlier and finally beat Shao Kahn.  I had to drop the difficulty setting down to beginner and it still took me half an hour.  I'm just not very good with combos on a 360 controller, not that I am exceptional at combos on a PlayStation controller, either.  For the record, I played about half the game at medium before I dropped it to easy.  I then finished up to Shao Kahn's final battle on easy.  I am actually quite proud considering how little I play fighting games anymore.  My next step is to focus on the Tower.  That should also help me improve my use of combos.

For those who still haven't picked up the game, I can't recommend it enough.  Great story, great graphics, and it flows into battle rather smoothly.  Plus, the ending sets up the next game nicely.

My Little Monday: Read It and Weep

Sorry this is so late, but I am a little under the weather today.  I also wasn't overly thrilled with the newest episode, so I'm not rushing to talk about it.  Instead, I give you a comic by DeviantART user PixelKitties.
